Extra Help:

**I will typically post which days I am available by sunday night each week
GRADING:
Homework: Homework will be assigned after each class and will be due the next time our class
meets. Homework will periodically be spot checked for completion and then reviewed in class.
Homework will sometimes be collected so that it may be looked at more in-depth and it will count as a small quiz. Late homework will be accepted for 50% credit. All homework should include copying the original problem (at least notes of critical information) from the text and you must show all work to receive credit. Each checked homework will be worth 4 points.
Weekly FRAPPY’s (Free Response AP Problems Yay!): Once we have covered enough material, I will start assigning weekly FRAPPY’s that are open response AP problems from past
tests. These will be in addition to your nightly homework and I may collect & grade or you will self-grade them. They will usually count 8 points each problem assigned.
Quizzes: During each of our 12 Chapters, you will be given 1-3 quizzes. Quizzes may be individual or partner and could be either take-home or traditional (in class). Point value of quizzes will be between approximately 25-50 points each.
“How to” Guides(Optional): Study guides that you will create for the important topics in each chapter. Based on an outline given at the beginning of the year, you will create a 1-page summary for each topic that includes:
1. Definitions, formulas, properties & assumptions/conditions
2. Basic example
3. Calculator steps
We will use these guides to study at the end of the year. This year, you will be given the option to create your how to’s using an IPAD App of your choice-Explain Everything, Book Creator, iMovie, etc. These study guides may be group or individual and will be shared with the class (posted on class webpage).
Projects: You will be assigned up to one project per term. Each project will include a written
component and may include the need for spreadsheets, graphs, an oral report and/or poster presentation. Projects will count between 40-100 points.
Tests: There will be a test for each chapter initially. The later chapter (inference procedures will include material from multiple chapters. Tests will be similar to the format of the AP Test (about half multiple choice and half open response) but will be 1-2 chapters only and will be
completed in 1 hour. I offer extra help prior to each exam and there is almost always opportunity to earn back points (the tests can be challenging at first)-sometimes entire make-up exams are given after school. Tests will be worth 80-100 points.
Required AP Exam Study Hours: During term 4, one of your test grades will come from your required 20 hour (minimum) documented exam prep. There will many options provided for you to customize your own studying to what works best for you. I have lots of materials (prep books, old AP FRQ's, Six Day March, online test prep courses, etc.)

Electronics:
Calculators:
Graphing calculators are required & can be used on ALL assignments, assessments & all parts of the AP Test. TI-83 / TI-83 Plus /TI-84 /TI-84 Plus are preferred and will be used as demonstration tools. Students with other calculators will be responsible to learn how to complete required tasks on their own. Calculators will not be loaned and should be brought to class EVERY DAY.
,IPADs: IPADS should be brought to class daily & be fully charged. We will be accessing assignments, our text, applets for simulations/demonstration, as well as Statistical Software that we will be using in class & at home. Students will be allowed to use IPAD APPs to take notes (text or voice), take photos of important facts or problems done on the whiteboard.
Inappropriate IPAD use: No taking pictures or videos of anyone (including me) without prior permission. No taking control of the Apple TV without permission (this will be considered a class disruption and dealt with accordingly). No texting, tweeting, snap chatting, face timing etc. during class & of course the school acceptable use policy must be followed. You need to stay on task while you are in class-if something comes up and you need to look something up JUST ASK!
Cell Phones: Cell phones will not be allowed in class at any time! If it is out I will assume you are using it (texting, checking messages, taking pictures, etc.). I will request parent/student conferences for repeat offenders.
Questions?? Please ask me in class or email me at [email protected]
